These are some of the non-Apple applications on my iMac that make my life easier
Cyberduck – FTP browser
Disk Inventory X – visual view of all files by size
Firefox – Internet
HandBrake – Converts videos to a format suitable for iPhone
Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Powerpoint
Psst – Stops my Mac from making the diagnostic start-up chime that bugs Adrian
Rosetta Stone – Would help me learn French if I ever opened it up
Skype – Free and cheap phone calls
VLC – Watching DVDs
FilemarkMaker – offline iPhone bookmarks

  1. Haha turning of the start up chime is also the first thing I do after buying a mac :-)
I mostly use the same programs, but here are some OSX apps that I use:

    Free
    *Adium: Instant Messenger
    *Thunderbird: Mail
    *Openoffice.org: office suite
    *Bean: simple text editor
    *Transmission: bittorrent client
    *Skim: excellent PDF reader/editor

    Not free:
*EyeTV: Watching DTV broadcasting (in belgium the VRT (één and canvas) and RTBF channels are free, and I don’t have a TV in my room)
    *Adobe Photoshop CS4: photo editing

  2. Thanks for the tips. Skim and EyeTV are both news to me. I shall have to check them out.
