Great picture!! Hayden's face changed so much in a month! Or maybe it's cause he's upside down. T still only has his bottom 2 teeth, not that that stops him from chomping on big pieces of food.

I'm born and raised in Belgium, and I have to say I have never seen actual eggs for Easter celebrations. Usually parents and grandparents hide lots of chocolate eggs in the garden or in the house. This usually ends in a stomach ache for the kids AND the adults :D

You're braver than I am! I won't even eat at an Indian restaurant under normal circumstances, let alone go on a family trip to India. I'm sure it's amazing to see though.

This reassures me that Eskil isn't totally behind things in not being impressed with solids! There are other children his age that I swear seem to be ready to consume gourmet 5 course meals. Eskil? Butternut pumpkin is pretty much the only thing he consistantly will allow to be put into his mouth without pretending it's torture. Of course the dog's tail, leaves, my camera strap, my fingers etc are all a different story.

In my experience the best way to learn a language is to 'live' in a language. Go to the movies in French/Dutch, watch belgian tv channels, read local news papers, conduct your basic google searches in french/dutch, speak french/dutch wherever you can. It's true that a lot of flemish are easily switching to english / french if they hear your accent but don't let it bother you and continue speaking in french or dutch to them. My native tongue is german and when I arrived in Antwerp all my collegues would immediately swith to german or english when I even got near them. And I can assure you that it is really weird entering the coffee room at work, hearing people speaking dutch but switching to english when I entered without me even participating in the conversation and when I left I heard them switching to dutch again. In the beginning it was convenient for me of course, but after a while I started realizing that the best way to learn a language is by speaking it, so I started to speak crappy dutch to everyone. And after a while they spoke to me in dutch as well, mostly a lot slower dan normal so I could understand them and learn from them.

So my advice: keep up the good work and practice, practice, practice!!! Buy a book in french/dutch, listen to the radio, songs,...
