The Brussels Light Festival

Tonight was the last night of Brussel’s first Light Festival. Inspired by the grand Fête des lumières in Lyon, France, this petite collection of 11 exhibits livened up the canal area near Yser metro. Many people and puppies were lit up with glow-sticks and LEDs, strolling along and interacting with the projections. Hayden’s favourite piece was Elephantastic, a larger-than-life projection of an African elephant.

Adrian and I were very impressed by the Lord of Lightning dancing with electricity at the top of a Tesla Coil. Mysteriously, his nemesis was missing, so there was no opportunity for an electricity fight (like in the video below), but it was still neat to see him twisting his staff and dancing with the arcs of lightning.

I hope that this festival is the start of a new tradition, and that every year it will grow to have a greater number of impressive artists displaying their photon art.
